To support international students, KAIST offers the KAIST Full Scholarship, which covers full tuition fees, living expenses, and national health insurance.

The scholarship is open to all international applicants worldwide, including students currently enrolled at other universities. No TOPIK (Korean Language Test) is required at the time of application. The academic year will begin in September/October 2026, and applicants graduating by August 2026 can also apply for the Regular Track. You can also apply for Erasmus Mundus EMAI Scholarship 2026/28 (Fully Funded)

Benefits

  • Full Tuition Fee: Complete tuition exemption for 8 semesters (4-year program).
  • Living Expenses: 350,000 KRW per month.

KAIST Scholarship Requirements

  • Applicants must be international students.
  • KAIST offers scholarships automatically to admitted students — no separate application form is required.
  • Students must maintain a GPA of 2.7 out of 4.3 after their freshman year to continue receiving the scholarship.

English Proficiency Test Requirements

  • English Proficiency Test results such as IELTS, TOEFL, etc. are recommended but not mandatory.
  • Applicants without an English test score can still apply.
  • There are no disadvantages for not submitting the test score.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must hold foreign citizenship.
  • Neither of the applicant’s parents should be a Korean citizen.
  • Applicants of Korean origin must have completed all elementary, junior high, and high school education outside Korea.
  • Applicants holding Korean citizenship (including dual citizenship) are not eligible to apply as international students.
  • Applicants must pay the application fee.

  7. There is no separate scholarship application — if admitted, students automatically receive the KAIST Scholarship.
