The University of Malta Scholarships 2026–27 are fully funded opportunities for international students who want to study postgraduate programs in Europe. These scholarships are offered through a partnership between the Government of Malta and the University of Malta.

Scholarship Benefits
1. Master’s Program (3 Scholarships)
Students selected for the Master’s program will receive the following support:
Coverage
- Full tuition fees covered by the scholarship
- Research allowance up to €1,000 for fieldwork expenses
Study Mode
- The program supports online study.
- Students who decide to move to Malta will receive additional support for:
- Travel costs
- Visa and residence permit
- Accommodation and living expenses
Extension
If the program continues beyond one year, an additional €400 annual fee may apply (subject to university approval).
2. PhD Program (2 Scholarships)
The scholarship also supports PhD students.
Funding
- Total funding of €13,200 over three years
- Approximately €1,100 per month for mobile study periods
“Mobile” periods may include:
- Staying in Malta for research (maximum 4 months per visit)
- Field research travel in other locations (maximum 8 months total)
Additional Support
- One return flight between Malta and the home country (up to €2,000)
- Health insurance support up to €500 per year (maximum €1,500)
- Research allowance up to €2,000 for:
- Fieldwork travel
- Conferences or training
- Data collection
- Software licenses
All expenses must be supported with official receipts.
Extension
If studies extend beyond three years, an additional €600 annual fee may apply with university approval.
