USIP Peace # Program
The USIP Peace Scholar Fellowship program, established in 1988, provides non-residential fellowships to Ph.D. candidates at US universities for doctoral dissertations on conflict management, peacebuilding, and security studies. Since 1988, the program has supported 408 scholars, many of whom have distinguished careers in research, higher education, and policymaking.
The program, in partnership with the Minerva Research Initiative, offers up to 18 fellowships annually, supporting research and writing stages of dissertations. It encourages applications from underrepresented groups in international relations, peace and conflict studies, security studies, diplomacy, and international policymaking, aiming to provide additional support.
USIP is seeking Ph.D. candidates with high-quality, policy-relevant research in conflict management, peacebuilding, and security-related studies, with a preference for those closely related to USIP Issue Areas and Minerva Research Initiative research priorities.
